Meet The Team

Senior Pastor /Men's Ministry
Pastor Steven K. Wilson, Sr. is a Prophetic Voice in this hour, gifted with a unique anointing to deliver the Word of God to the people. As the youngest of 8 children born to the late Deacon George Wilson, Sr. and the very present Missionary Gladys Wilson, young Steven committed his life and services to the Lord Jesus Christ at the tender age of 15 years old, under the leadership of his Pastor and Uncle, the late Pastor Frank L. Smith, Sr. at the New Hope C.O.G.I.C. He learned in his formative years the true meaning of holiness, and continues to live a saved and sanctified life, traveling the path of righteousness! As his Christian tutelage began with intense mentorship to prepare him for the journey to come, he grew in love with holiness and the ways of God and the Church. Pastor Wilson is a faithful, life-long member and diligent worker in the Church of God in Christ. In alignment with his family lineage he is blessed with exceptional vocal abilities and unmatched anointing. As a world-renowned singer and song writer, he was a member of the national recording group, The Gospel Glorifiers, traveling the country as their lead singer, compelling people to come to Christ through the ministry of song. His dedication to the way of sanctification led him to turn down worldly music offers, contracts and record deals. Obeying the instructions of his Pastor, he instead directed his focus on directing the New Hope Church of God in Christ Evangelistic Choir and music department, which accomplished a recording entitled “Jesus Christ Touched Me.” In 1995, by the words of prayer and direction of Elder Smith, he began serving in the diaconate ministry as a Junior Deacon. Later, as an ordained Deacon, he spent an immense amount of time visiting, praying for, and helping the sick and shut-in in homes and hospitals, often taking his children (training them as well). He has also served as Coordinator of the Evangelistic Ministry, tent ministry erection crew, worship leader, expeditor of services, and Minister of the Gospel. In 2013, Minister Wilson received two great elevations. He was ordained an Elder in the Lord’s Church and, later that year, was elected and appointed to the office of Pastor of the New Hope Church of God in Christ. Within a short period of time, Pastor Wilson proved to be a great visionary, remodeling the New Hope Norfolk campus in 2017 and reconstructing the Boykins campus in 2019. Under his leadership, the church also purchased a charter bus to use for evangelistic ministry and travel. Pastor Wilson has implemented community-oriented projects such as “Crusade against Drugs & Violence” and “Miracle on 35th Street,” serving the community with care packages, food, clothing, toys, and bicycles, for the less fortunate. On the district level, Pastor Wilson has served on the Pastors and Elders Council, as Vice-President of Young People Willing Workers Department (YPWW), and District Devotional Leader within the South Norfolk District of the COGIC Historic First Jurisdiction of Virginia. On the Jurisdictional level, he served as Direct Assistant to Jurisdictional Evangelist in Revival Fire, also within the Historic First Jurisdiction of Virginia. In his professional career, Pastor Wilson served at the Newport News Naval Shipyard for many years. Now, as an entrepreneur, he operates a successful salvaging business. He is in Love with the "cure for his loneliness," the incomparable Lady Mary Paylings-Wilson. He is a family man and father of Minister Steven Wilson, Jr. and his wife, Krystal, and Aspirant Missionary Ashley Wilson. He is also the proud grandfather of Aneesia, Steven III, Zion, Arion, Natalia, Naleia and Chanel. Pastor Steven Wilson’s passion is soul-winning, witnessing to a confused and dying world through his unique delivery of the Word of God in soul-stirring manner. He has an unconditional love and passion to serve others and is continuing to enhance the kingdom of God as he diligently works on creating worksites and business opportunities, as-well as a new headquarters edifice for New Hope COGIC in Chesapeake, Virginia in the future!
